Riverfront homes, club villas and quiet village streets in Tequesta often still have textured ceilings. We replace them with a clean, flat finish.
Tequesta homeowners looking into popcorn ceiling removal tend to share one goal. They want a cleaner, brighter ceiling without turning the house upside down. The Village is small and residential, and most homes here are lived in year-round or for long seasons.
Palm Beach Popcorn Removal is a ceilings-only contractor out of West Palm Beach. We come up to Tequesta for scraping, asbestos sampling, skim coating, knockdown and ceiling painting. Every project starts with a free, written quote.
Tequesta sits near the northern edge of Palm Beach County, along the Loxahatchee River. Much of the Village was built in the decades when sprayed texture was a standard ceiling finish. Single-family homes, villas and low-rise condos all show up on our jobs here.
River-view homes often have big windows and sliders facing the water. That daylight skims across ceilings and highlights every flaw. A full skim coat after scraping keeps those ceilings looking even.
Older homes near the river can also show signs of past moisture. We look for stains, soft drywall and old patch work during the quote visit. Anything we find is noted in writing so there are no surprises later.
Textured ceilings were common from the 1950s through the 1980s. Before the mid-1980s, many contained asbestos. The EPA banned spray-applied asbestos products in the 1970s, but leftover stock was still installed afterward.
You cannot tell by looking. We send a small sample to an NVLAP-accredited lab, and results arrive in about 3–5 business days. The test costs $250 and is credited toward the job if you hire us. Details are on our asbestos testing page.
If the result is positive, we stop and refer you to a Florida-licensed asbestos abatement contractor. We do not perform asbestos removal.
Our Tequesta work covers the whole Village and its edges:
Tequesta borders Martin County to the north. Some homes on Jupiter Island and along Beach Road sit close to that line. We serve Palm Beach County, so please give us your full address when you reach out. We will confirm whether your home is in our area.
We price by the square foot of ceiling. These Palm Beach County ranges apply in Tequesta:
| Scope | Price per sq ft |
|---|---|
| Scrape only | $1.50–$2.50 |
| Scrape + skim coat + prime | $3.00–$4.50 |
| Scrape + skim coat + paint | $3.75–$5.50 |
| Knockdown texture | $3.00–$4.75 |
Three adjustments come up often here. Painted-over popcorn adds about 25%. Ceilings at 10–12 feet add about 15%. Vaulted living rooms, which appear in some river and club homes, add about 30%.
A whole home near 1,500 sq ft typically comes to $5,625–$8,250 with skim and paint. Our popcorn ceiling removal cost guide explains how we measure and what changes the total.
Country club and villa communities usually have their own vendor rules. You might see a gate list, quiet hours or limits on where trucks can park. Low-rise condos may have rules for common hallways and stairwells.
Rules vary — we confirm with your association and the Village before starting. A certificate of insurance is available for associations that request one. For more on board approvals, see our condo popcorn ceiling removal page.
We start with a site visit to measure, check ceiling heights and take any needed asbestos sample. You get a written quote, and we reply within one business day of your request.
Once you approve, we protect the space. That means covered floors, taped walls, plastic containment and sealed HVAC vents. We then mist and scrape the texture with dust control.
After scraping comes repair, a full skim coat and sanding. We finish with primer, paint if you want it, a HEPA vacuum and a walkthrough. Most single bedrooms take 1–2 days. A 1,500 sq ft home usually takes 3–5 working days.
You do not need to move out. We only ask that you keep clear of the rooms we are working in each day. Our process page explains each step in more detail.
We serve Palm Beach County. Tequesta itself is in Palm Beach County, but some nearby homes across the line are in Martin County. Send us your address and we will confirm coverage before scheduling. If your home is in our area, the quote and site visit are free.
Yes. Vaulted ceilings add about 30% because they need more staging and take longer to scrape and skim. Your association may also have rules for contractor hours and access. We confirm those with the association and the Village before starting, and we can provide a certificate of insurance.
Strong side light favors a well-built smooth finish, since we skim the full ceiling to level it. Knockdown hides small flaws and can be easier to patch later. Both are good choices in bright rooms. Read smooth vs knockdown ceilings, or call (561) 000-0000 to talk it through.
